Satisfying the Gospel’s imposition to clothe the naked, Linwood Clothing Closet offers clothing to those who are in need.
It is a rare thing this day to encounter the truly naked; however, there are many, who through no fault of their own, find themselves in need of clothing without the finances to buy it. Women and children who are in abusive relationships flee with little time to spare and are often required to leave behind everything but what they are able to carry in hand.
Victims of fire often lose everything they own except the very clothing on their backs. In such a situation, obtaining new clothing is of great importance, but also is finding shelter and transportation. Also victims of natural disasters such as flooding, hurricanes, tornados, brush fires, etc. sometimes lose everything they own. We must not forget the poor and the homeless whom we can show the love of God by merely providing them with fresh and clean clothing.
The Epistle of James tells us “[if] a brother or sister is poorly clothed and in lack of daily food, and one of [us] says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body” our faith profits nothing (James 2:14 NRSV). Thus, it is with great compassion and impartiality that we minister to the bodily needs of all who find themselves lacking the things needed for daily life.
Clothing for the Clothing Closet is supplied through the generous donations of faith-filled individuals, the members of Linwood Baptist Church, and other churches throughout the Shreveport and Bossier City areas.
